Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Posture Upright Android app (com.posturecontroller.app) and this website. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. The app
Posture Upright is a posture-awareness and phone-ergonomics tool. It uses on-device motion sensors to estimate how you hold the phone and may change screen brightness (and optional vibrate or overlay reminders) to encourage sitting more upright.
It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent neck pain, back pain, eye disease, or any other condition. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you have pain or a health concern, see a qualified clinician.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Android devices you own or control, in line with Google Play’s terms and these terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, rent, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law.
3. Age
The app is intended for a general audience of teens and adults (typically 13+). It is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission to use the app and make purchases.
4. Permissions you may grant
Some features need Android permissions you control, including modify system settings (brightness), notifications, display over other apps (optional bubble), vibration, and related background/boot permissions. You can refuse or revoke them in Android settings. Features that depend on a permission will not work without it.
5. Purchases
Paid features are sold as a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. There is no subscription in the app. Payment, taxes, refunds, and purchase restoration are handled by Google under Google Play’s terms. Buy once on a Google account; unlock follows that account according to Play’s rules.
Prices shown in the store or paywall are set in Play Console and may vary by country. We do not process your card details.
6. Ads
The app does not contain ads. There are no third-party ad SDKs, banners, interstitials, native ads, or house ads. In Play Console the Ads declaration should be No.
7. Accounts and access for reviewers
The app does not require a login, membership, or location-based lock to use core features. There are no restricted “signed-in only” areas. Google Play reviewers can use the app without special credentials. Unlock of paid features may require a Play test track / license tester, or the in-app purchase flow.
In Play Console → App content → Sign-in details, you can state that all functionality is available without a login.
8. What the app is not
- Not a COVID-19 contact tracing or status app
- Not a News or Magazine app
- Not a camera-based posture coach (no filming)
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with other users or Google Play, attempt to circumvent the purchase system, or use the app in any way that is illegal where you live. Do not use brightness or overlay features in a way that creates a safety risk (for example while driving).
10. Availability and changes
We may update, limit, or discontinue features. Sensor accuracy depends on your device hardware and how you hold the phone; results will vary. We do not guarantee that dimming will always prevent discomfort or change your posture.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the in-app unlock (if any) in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, where such rules apply).
13. Third parties
Google Play, Android, and YouTube (on this website) are third-party services with their own terms. We are not responsible for those services.
14. Privacy
How we handle information is described in the Privacy Policy. Together, that policy and these terms describe collection, use, and sharing of user and device data (including that posture scores stay on device, and that Google processes Play purchases).
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. If you continue to use the app after a change, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, uninstall the app.
